Yet again, our Crimson USB Interface/Monitor Controller was put to the test. This time it was Friedemann Kootz from German Studio Magazin that took it for a test drive (08/2014 issue).
A street price of less than €500 for such a high-class “Made in Germany” device was way too suspicious for him, so he decided to find out where we had made some compromises.
His conclusion is pretty straightforward: “SPL cut corners exactly at the right places,” adding that “it’s impossible to do any better for the price.”
“Good tech specs and a good sound, all within a stable chassis.”
“The quality of the preamps and converters is high enough that you can do professional work with the Crimson without any remorse.”
“To sum it up, it’s a unit that unquestionably deserves the thumbs up.”
