Creon in Recording Magazin

In the current issue (1/16) of German Recording Magazin you can read a review of our brand new USB interface and monitor controller — the SPL Creon.

Chief Editor, Moritz Hillmayer, was quite impressed by it:

“…a great device with purposeful, high-quality features and a fair price tag…“

The Creon features the same premium converters and characteristics as the bigger SPL Crimson. However, it has been optimized to accommodate for the needs of small home and project studios. The built-in instrument preamp and two microphone preamps, together with the line inputs, allow the user to amplify, monitor and convert all sorts of signals and record them with a DAW.

“The versatile switching possibilities, which can come in very handy even without a DAW, make the Creon the perfect centerpiece to build a project studio around.”

And not only is the Creon versatile in technical matters, the fact that it’s available in black or white makes it easy to fit into any studio. Connect an Instrument to the Creon and you can start playing right away, plug in a microphone and start singing along.

“Microphones are faithfully recorded into the computer, where they can be adapted to your own needs in terms of sound afterwards.”

The Monitor-Mix knob makes it possible to intuitively mix the corresponding signals and listen to them through headphones or speakers.

“The headphone amplifier deserves special praise. It delivers an extremely clean amplified signal. Quality headphone amps aren’t something you can take for granted on compact audio interfaces — the Creon is an exception to that rule.”

To top it off, the thrifty price makes it now possible for desktop studios to enjoy the well-known SPL quality without breaking the bank.

“A rock-solid and high-grade audio interface with valuable controls and the exceptional SPL sound — that’s what you get with the Creon.”
