Matching the product launch of the Series One the first review is already online. Jörg Hoffmann of Amazona.de has taken a close look at the two brandnew headphone amplifiers Phonitor One and Phonitor One d and is impressed:

First look:
“The housing is completely made of metal and is exceptionally beautifully crafted. The very solid front panel with the shiny SPL logo and the bomb-proof jacks show that SPL doesn’t show any weakness: I am impressed!”
Sound:
“Due to the identical headphone preamps, of course, the two SPL devices sound identical and they are truly unimpeachable. Again, it’s the detail-rich and energetic side of the Phonitor models that bring the words ‘colorful’ and ‘joy of playing’ to your mind.”
“Sound aficionados, who really want to analyze every transient, will love the SPL device.”
Measurements:
“The measured values of the Phonitor One/One d models are convincing – which is to be expected from SPL: at a frequency range of 10 Hz – 200 kHz we are talking about a THD value (Total Harmonic Distortion) of 0.002 %. A 250 Ohm headphone is supplied with 2 x 330 mWatt, which is completely sufficient even for the quietest headphones.”
“With the ‘d’ model, of course, the internal converter is of particular interest: 121.5 dB dynamic range (113 dBFS at 44.1/48 kHz sample rate) are superior studio standards and the sample rates of 44.1 – 768 kHz at 32 bit also speak for themselves.”
Conclusion:
